Democrats are Centering 2020 on Big Ideas

As more candidates continue to officially enter the Democratic Primary, the race is becoming increasingly one, that is defined by big ideas, calls for expensive new programs and radical change.
The earliest entrants to the race are defining themselves not by their years of service and experience (or in the case of several, lack of both) but by calls for bold, progressive policies.
While the Democrats pivoted towards centrist politics and more moderate policies in the later decades of the 20th century, the party was arguably at it’s strongest when it ran Presidential candidates who argued for large culture shifting ideas. Programs like Roosevelt’s New Deal and Johnson’s Great Society defined a new version of American exceptionalism that came to shape how not only the American public’s perception of the Democratic Party but their perception of them selves.

Which Republicans Might Run Against Trump?

A 2020 primary challenge against Donald Trump was almost guaranteed the moment he was elected.
The grotesque nature of his campaign, the threat he posed to traditional conservativism made certain that someone would emerge to challenge him in his quest for re-election.
Barring his removal from office either by resignation or impeachment, someone is going to run against him.
So in the name of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan and other people who were more polite about their hatred of the poor, here’s #NeverTrump part deux.

John Kasich

The most obvious potential challenger on our list is also likely the least electable. John Kasich was a snooze fest of a candidate even to his most ardent supporters. Still he was the only one of the 21 (felt like a million) Republican Candidates with the wherewithal to stay in the race reliably challenge Trump. He’s been outspoken, and clearly wants to sit in the oval office he’s also just to damn boring to hold his own.

Your country is counting on you tomorrow.

Reminding people to vote isn’t something we should have to do.
Yet here we are, doing it.
Close to half the nation tends not to show up to the polls on election day. That number goes up to well over half in midterm elections like tomorrow.
There’s a million reasons as to why Americans don’t show up to vote. Apathy towards candidates that don’t represent them, racist laws that make voting intentionally difficult for disenfranchised groups, a sense that nothing changes and a two party duopoly that most American’s are sick of, all contribute to the issue.
We can’t deny that these issue’s exist, they undoubtedly do. I will also tell you that the solution to all of them is voting. And sitting tomorrow out means that all of these issues will only get worse over the next two years. The system responds to the demands of those who show up and vote, it doesn’t care about the rest.
By not voting you’re giving others the ability to decide what your reality is. You’re let…
